The California Spatial Reference Center (CSRC) was officially established in 2000. As stated in CSRC Bylaws, the mission remains to “Ensure the availability of accurate, consistent, and timely spatial referencing data for California”.

Through two guiding master plan documents, a rewrite of the state’s Public Resources Code and seven network-deforming earthquakes, the CSRC has delivered on that mission for two and a half decades.

This presentation will describe the collection of data, models, analysis and distribution that is the California Spatial Reference System, leaving time to answer questions and review any specific topics.

I am happy to announce that we have another event for you all! KDM Meridian has offered to host YSN at their office in Irvine on Thursday April 9th, at 5:30 PM.

There will be food and social hour until 6:00, and then we will gather for a talk given by KDM’s president, Rich Maher, PLS 7564.

Join us to learn more about the advances in survey technology, to connect with other young surveyors, and to see the inner workings of a successful survey office in Orange County! This will be a great night for students to look into their future.

The Certified Survey Technician Program (CST) is a comprehensive national certification program for survey technicians, and is sponsored by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS).

Four levels of certification are offered in two primary tracks – field and office. Certification is by examination, which must be monitored by an approved Proctor.

College of the Canyons is proctoring these exams in their Tutor Learning Center (TLC) on Friday October 10th, 2025 at their Valencia Campus. if you are interested in taking the exams, please contact xanth.stack@canyons.edu for more information.

The RSB and Orange County Chapters of CLSA will be coordinating a hike up to the San Bernardino Initial Point on June 21st, 2025. This is a fun and challenging day hike that ventures into the San Gorgonio Wilderness via the San Bernardino Peak Trail. The hike to the monument is 15.5 miles round trip, and gains 4300 vertical feet; trailhead is at approx. 6000 feet, and the monument is at 10,300 feet.

Meeting Time: 6:00 AM
Trailhead Departure: 6:30 AM sharp
Location: San Bernardino Peak Trailhead in Angelus Oaks
Distance: 15.5 miles round trip
Estimated Return: Between 5:00 – 6:00 PM
