Los Angeles County

Hey LA, It’s great to be here with you as your Regional Director for YSN. What excites me most about surveying in LA County is the mix of history, culture, and cutting-edge technology that we get to engage with every day.

Like many of you, my path to surveying wasn’t a straight line—I explored architecture, engineering, film, even animation before I found land surveying. What hooked me was the perfect balance: working indoors and outdoors, combining tradition with innovation, and always solving new challenges.

Since then, I’ve had the chance to grow from fieldwork to CAD drafting to project management, and eventually into teaching—where I discovered how rewarding it is to mentor the next generation. That’s why I’m here: to connect, support, and strengthen our community of young surveyors in LA County so we can learn from each other and keep our profession thriving.

We’re building something awesome here in LA—and you’re part of it.

WHAT TO EXPECT.

———————————————

The Los Angeles YSN will host events for the young surveying professional.
Join your fellow members and supporting members in:

SOCIAL NETWORKING EVENTS

Land surveyors work hard, which is why we make sure to have plenty of fun, too! You’ll find us indoor rock climbing, hosting summer BBQs, hiking and camping (more on that soon), meeting up for online gaming, sharing meals together, or enjoying happy hours at favorite local spots. We aim to offer a variety of events so you can join in on the ones that fit best with your schedule and lifestyle. Family-friendly activities will always be noted! Got an idea for an event? Let us know!

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

The precision and quality of our work cannot be matched by other professions. You’ll find us hosting Quality Workshops for legal description writing, map drafting, and discussions on boundary analysis.

CST, LSIT, AND PLS PREP

Pursuing your license is an important step in every land surveyor’s career. We will connect members with mentors in the industry and an ever-growing library of tools to pass the exams and obtain licensure. We work closely with the Land Surveying program at College of the Canyons, which offers certificates associate’s degrees, bachelor’s degrees through their University Center, and non-credit (aka free) LSIT prep classes. The campus also hosts CST testing.

TRAVERSING TRAILS

Our profession has us pacing all over Southern California and beyond. Share in your fellow member’s favorite hikes and track your miles, all in preparation for the yearly hike of the San Bernardino Initial Point where we’ll join up with YSN members from other regions.
