Our Objectives
The objective of CLSA Remote Chapter is to operate within the governance structure of the Association, while being dedicated to the spirit of the "Young Surveyors" movement, specifically:
(a) To provide a welcoming, low-barrier entry point for new professionals into the Association.
(b) To utilize modern technology to connect surveyors across diverse geographic locations who may not be served by traditional local chapters.
(c) To foster peer-to-peer mentorship between licensed and unlicensed professionals. One of the ways this is done is by by working closely with and supporting the efforts of the CA YSN.
Why join?
Get your voice heard and stay current with more flexibility and lower costs. Vote on CLSA goals, positions and how the budget is spent. Help advance the objective of supporting Young Surveyors and advancing the field of Surveying.
Unlike other chapters which provide no voting rights to Student, Affiliate and Associate members - in order to empower emerging professionals while adhering to Association governance requirements, voting rights in the CLSA Remote are divided as follows:
(a) Chapter Internal Business: On matters relating solely to the internal administration of the Chapter (including social event planning, educational topics, and internal committee formation), all Chapter Members in good standing (Corporate, Associate, Affiliate, and Student) shall have one vote.
(b) Association Business & Governance: On matters relating to the Association (including instructions to the Association Director), amendments to these Bylaws, and the election of the Chapter President and Association Director, only Corporate Members of the Chapter shall be entitled to vote, pursuant to Association Bylaws Section 8.08.
Please share with any surveyors you know who may be interested! The CLSA Remote is a key resource for the CA YSN to operate and receive sponsorships and funding.
